The Circleback desktop app adds an icon to the menu bar on macOS (or the system tray on Windows). The menu bar gives you quick access to your meetings, recordings, and settings without opening the app.
Your meetings at a glance
Click the Circleback icon in the menu bar to see your meetings for the day. Click a meeting to:
Open the meeting in Circleback
Join the call directly (e.g. Open Google Meet)
View the event in your calendar
Email the invitees
Control whether Circleback joins the meeting
Record a meeting
Click Open Record Panel at the top of the menu to start a recording. You can record any meeting or conversation on your computer, whether or not it is on your calendar. See Record meetings with the desktop app for details.
To have Circleback automatically detect and prompt you to record when you join a call, enable Detect meetings from Settings β Notifications.
Other options
Open Circleback opens the full app
Settings lets you adjust recording, notification, and other preferences
Quit closes the desktop app and removes the menu bar icon
If you don't see Circleback in the menu bar
macOS limits how many icons can fit in the menu bar, especially on MacBooks with a notch. When there isn't enough space, some icons are hidden.
To free up space, go to System Settings β Menu Bar. Deselect items you don't need always visible (like Spotlight, Screen Mirroring, or Now Playing). For items like Focus or Sound, change the option from "Always Show" to "Show When Active" so they only appear when in use.
You can also rearrange menu bar icons by pressing and holding the Command (β) key, then dragging them. Move less important icons to the left to make room for Circleback on the right.
If the icon still doesn't appear, make sure the desktop app is running. Search for "Circleback" in Spotlight (Command + Space) and open it. The menu bar icon appears when the app is running.
If you haven't installed the desktop app yet, download it from circleback.ai/desktop.
